Halal, gluten and vegetarian

What to know before you order.

Is your chicken halal?

Yes. NAS chicken is halal, and it is halal at every one of our locations: the Prilly and Chailly take-aways, both food trucks on the EPFL campus and the food truck that moves around Lausanne each lunchtime. It is the same chicken everywhere.

Where is the gluten?

Gluten is present in most of our products:

  • The wraps — the tortilla contains gluten.
  • The burgers — the bun contains gluten.
  • Anything breaded — the breading contains gluten. That covers the chicken (Chicken Tenders, nuggets, wraps, burgers, salad) and both of our vegetarian products, the goat cheese and the halloumi: they are breaded too.
  • The house cocktail sauce — it may contain traces of gluten.

In short: if you avoid gluten, most of our menu is not for you. Better to know that before you come than standing at the counter.

Do you have vegetarian dishes?

Yes, two: Le Chèvre Pané NAS (breaded goat cheese) and Le Halloumi Pané (breaded halloumi), CHF 11.- each. Both are available at all our locations.

But be careful, and this matters: both are breaded, so both contain gluten. Here, “vegetarian” does not mean “gluten-free”.

And for dessert?

Our Daim tarts are made without gluten in the recipe.

One important caveat, and we would rather be straight with you: our kitchens handle breading all day long. So we cannot guarantee the complete absence of traces of gluten. If you have coeliac disease or a strong intolerance, talk to us before ordering — the team will tell you where things stand that day.

An allergy, a question?

Ask the team on site: they know what goes into what they serve. You can also write to info@naslausanne.ch before coming; we answer quickly.
